I’ve Been Here Before

This is not a new place for me. The loneliness that washes over me like a salty, warm tide. It’s kind of pleasant, for a little while. I like the quiet of it. A muffled, lukewarm embrace. Maybe it will lull me into a restorative sleep that will get me to the other side of this pain.
